Professional Real-Time HDR/WCG Conversion

The AJA FS-HDR is a powerful 1RU rackmount converter designed to meet the rigorous demands of live broadcast and post-production. Powered by the Colorfront Engine, it provides real-time High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Wide Color Gamut (WCG) transformations, ensuring perceptual integrity across SDR to HDR, HDR to SDR, and HDR to HDR workflows for both 4K/UltraHD and HD projects.

Dual Operational Modes

• Single Channel Mode: Provides full 4K/UltraHD/2K/HD frame synchronization and conversion, including up, down, and cross-conversion. It supports a wide range of I/O including 12G-SDI and optional Fiber.
• Four Channel Mode: Offers four independent channels of simultaneous 2K/HD/SD processing. Each channel can be configured with its own HDR/SDR transformation settings, ideal for high-density multi-camera environments.

Colorfront Engine and BBC HLG LUTs

The Colorfront Engine algorithms maintain the look of your content while bridging color spaces. For broadcasters, the BBC HLG LUTs Mode provides mathematical HLG dynamic range mapping per ITU BT.2408-0. This includes SDR, PQ, and S-Log3 to HLG conversions, as well as HLG to SDR and PQ.

Advanced Connectivity and Audio

The FS-HDR features incredible digital connectivity with standard BNC and optional SFP inputs/outputs. It supports 12G-SDI for single-cable 4K workflows. The internal 272 x 208 mono audio matrix allows for complex routing between MADI, AES, and embedded SDI audio sources, with sample rate conversion on every input.

Operational Efficiency

Features like SDR Preview Mode allow operators to quickly visualize how HDR content will appear when down-converted to SDR. The unit also supports 3D LUT uploads (.cube format) and dynamic LUT support from third-party software like WonderLookPro. Remote configuration is simple via a web-based GUI or SNMP monitoring over a LAN.
