Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor product description

Professional Editing Speed with the DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor

The Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor is a dedicated hardware controller designed for professional editors who need to work faster and more efficiently. Unlike a standard mouse and keyboard, this panel provides a physical connection to your edit, allowing for a more tactile and intuitive experience. It is specifically optimized for the Cut page in DaVinci Resolve, making it the perfect tool for fast-turnaround projects like commercials, news, and social media content.

Precision Search Dial Control

At the heart of the Speed Editor is a machined metal search dial. Its weighted feel allows for smooth scrolling and fast navigation through long timelines. When combined with the dedicated trim buttons, the search dial transforms into a high-precision adjustment knob for live trimming. This hardware-based approach offers a level of accuracy that is simply impossible to achieve with a computer mouse.

Intelligent Keyboard Edit Modes

The Speed Editor features dedicated buttons for intelligent editing functions. These modes use the software's smart indicator to determine the best insertion point, often eliminating the need for manual In and Out points.

  • Smart Insert: Automatically locates the nearest edit point and inserts your clip.
  • Append To End: Quickly builds your timeline by adding clips to the end of the sequence.
  • Ripple Overwrite: Replaces shots instantly while automatically adjusting the timeline duration.
  • Source Overwrite: A fast alternative to multi-cam editing that syncs clips based on timecode.

Wireless Portability and Connectivity

Equipped with built-in Bluetooth and an internal battery, the Speed Editor offers a clutter-free workspace. It is highly portable, making it an ideal companion for laptop-based editing on location. For traditional setups, it also connects and charges via a standard USB-C port.
