The AJA FS1-X is the next evolution in professional frame synchronization and conversion. Housed in a compact 1RU chassis, it integrates an extensive array of video and audio connectivity. By supporting everything from legacy analog signals to modern 1080p 3G-SDI, the FS1-X ensures your facility is prepared for both heritage workflows and future broadcast standards.

Utilizing AJA’s industry-leading hardware conversion algorithms, the FS1-X delivers superior image quality for up, down, and cross-conversion between SD and HD signals. Key processing features include:

• Automatic Reverse Telecine detection and removal
• Closed Caption conversion (CEA-608/CEA-708 standards)

Unmatched Audio Flexibility

The FS1-X is designed to handle the complex audio demands of modern 5.1 and 7.1 productions. It supports the MADI standard, providing a streamlined way to transport up to 64 audio channels over a single coax or fiber cable. An internal 224 x 224 audio matrix allows for comprehensive routing of MADI, SDI, AES, and analog sources, offering incredible processing power in a single rack unit.

Sidebar Keying and Automation

The unique sidebar keyer allows incoming signals to be combined in powerful ways. For example, when converting SD to HD, a second signal can be used to fill the sides of the 16:9 frame rather than stretching the 4:3 image or leaving black bars. For seamless integration into automated environments, many FS1-X functions can be triggered via external GPIs, including input freezing and preset switching.

Extensive Connectivity and Remote Control

The FS1-X is loaded with I/O for converting between a wide range of digital and analog signals, including 3G-SDI, HDMI, and component video. The unit is network-ready with a built-in 10/100/1000 Ethernet port, allowing for web-based remote control and SNMP monitoring. To ensure maximum uptime in mission-critical environments, the FS1-X features dual redundant power supplies.

Technical Specifications and Compatibility

Standard Conversions: The FS1-X supports conversions within the same frame rate family (23.98, 29.97, 59.94; 25, 50; or 24). Note: The factory-installed FRC option is no longer available for new units. Selecting incompatible format and frame rate conversions will trigger a Video Format alarm via the front panel LEDs, web interface, or SNMP traps.

Audio Adjustments: Individual channels feature level adjustment (+/- 18 dB), phase reversal, and delay settings from -128 to +12288 samples for precise synchronization.
