BirdDog Pod NDI to USB Webcam Converter

The BirdDog Pod makes it easy to use professional NDI video sources as a standard USB webcam. It connects to your NDI network through Gigabit Ethernet and outputs video through USB-C using UVC. This lets compatible computers and conferencing applications recognise the selected NDI source as a webcam without additional video capture hardware.

Pod is designed for meeting rooms, presentations, education, live production and other AV installations that need a simple connection between an NDI video workflow and USB conferencing software. It can be used with platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

Switch between four NDI sources

Four programmable touch buttons provide direct source selection. Pod automatically scans the connected network for available NDI sources, which helps to make source configuration and daily operation simple. Select the required source and Pod sends it to the connected computer through USB-C.

NDI, NDI HX2 and NDI HX3 support

BirdDog Pod supports multiple NDI formats for use with different network video systems. Supported input formats include:

• NDI up to 1080p60 using low-latency I-frame video
• NDI HX2 up to 1080p60 in H.264 or HEVC
• NDI HX3 up to 1080p60 in H.264 or HEVC
• 1080p frame rates from 25 to 60 fps
• 720p at 50, 59.94 and 60 fps

USB-C video and audio

The USB-C connection provides UVC video output up to 1080p30 and UAC audio support. This standard USB interface makes Pod suitable for conferencing and software applications that accept conventional USB webcam sources.

Gigabit Ethernet and PoE

A 1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet connection provides network connectivity. Pod also supports IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet. With a compatible PoE network switch, network data and power can use the same Ethernet connection. This reduces cabling in meeting rooms and permanent AV installations.

Designed for AV integration

Pod supports API control for integration into automated meeting rooms and custom AV systems. Its compact desktop design includes a non-slip rubberised base and a status LED. Together with automatic source detection and physical source controls, Pod provides a practical way to bring NDI video into USB-based conferencing workflows.
