The cmotion Cinefade VariND is a motorized variable Neutral Density filter that enables the unique Cinefade effect. By synchronizing the iris with the VariND, cinematographers can transition between deep and shallow depth of field in a single shot without changing the exposure.
Seamless Integration and Setup
Setup is streamlined via a single LBUS cable connected to the receiver. Once the lens is mapped, the operator sets the base exposure and activates Cinefade mode on the hand unit. The system is independent of the camera body, making it compatible with both digital and analog film cameras.
Precision Optics and Performance
Equipped with custom ARRI polarizers, the Cinefade VariND ensures zero color shift and no undesirable artifacts. The system offers a range of up to 5 T-stops with a maximum transition speed of 0.5 seconds. While the initial light loss is only 1.5 stops, the optical quality remains uncompromised throughout the rotation.
Professional Compatibility
The system requires cine-lenses with geared aperture rings and accurate T-stop markings. It is fully compatible with cmotion cPRO lens control systems running the latest firmware, allowing for easy daisy-chaining via LBUS protocol.
