The Leitz Hugo 18mm T1.5 brings the legendary soul of Leica M optics to the world of high-end cinematography. Designed to be small, fast, and lightweight, this 18mm wide-angle prime captures images with the distinct personality, rich colors, and artful flares that have defined Leica glass for decades. By utilizing the same optics found in the Leica M 0.8 series, the Hugo 18mm delivers a rounded image field and unique character at capture while meeting the rigorous demands of modern sets.
Precision Engineering for Cinematographers
Built with a completely new housing design, the Leitz Hugo series matches the build quality of existing Leitz cinematography lenses. This 18mm prime features a native LPL mount and traditional cine orientation for focus and iris scales. The expanded focus scales offer a 270-degree rotation, providing the precision required for complex focus pulls. Despite its robust construction, the lens remains incredibly compact, with weights starting at just 1.78 lbs (0.81 kg) and lengths ranging between 68mm and 112mm.
Versatility and Reliability
The Leitz Hugo 18mm is engineered for flexibility. While it comes with a rigid LPL mount, the lens mount can be swapped to Leica M or Leica L mounts to suit various camera systems. Like all Leitz cine lenses, the Hugo series is designed for longevity with readily available replacement elements and parts.
