DZOFILM Arcana: Full-Frame Anamorphic Character, Without the Compromise
Anamorphic lenses have always carried a certain mystique — the stretched bokeh, the horizontal flares, the widescreen drama. But for most independent filmmakers, that look has come with a painful trade-off: weight, size, cost, or all three at once.
The new DZOFILM Arcana series changes that equation. These full-frame 1.5X hybrid anamorphic primes deliver the organic character of classic 2X anamorphic glass in a body that weighs around 700 grams — genuine anamorphic imagery from a lens you can run on a gimbal all day.
Why 1.5X with 2X character matters
DZOFILM combined a 1.5X squeeze ratio with a 14-blade dynamic elliptical iris that recreates the iconic oval "waterfall" bokeh you'd normally only get from a 2X design. The result: practical 1.5X desqueeze compatibility with unmistakable anamorphic depth in every frame.
A front-cylindrical optical design with environmentally tinted white coating produces horizontal streak flares that shift color with the light — non-continuous and organic. Because the cylindrical elements sit at the front, the squeeze ratio stays stable from close focus to infinity. No "mumps" effect on faces, no warping to fix in post.

Resolving power that future-proofs your footage
With up to three ED elements per lens and a consistent T2.1 aperture across the series, the Arcana resolves beyond 12K — outpacing current sensor technology. Chromatic aberration stays far below industry averages, delivering clean color rendition even in high-contrast scenes shot wide open.
Built for the way filmmakers actually work
The entire three-lens series — 32mm, 45mm and 75mm — shares the same weight class (~700g), 80mm front diameter and 270-degree focus throw. Swap from wide to portrait without rebalancing your gimbal, changing filters or adjusting your follow focus. Minimum focus distances start at 0.48m on the 32mm.
The lenses ship with a multi-position PL mount supporting vertical shooting. A short rear optical group ensures compatibility with VND filters, PL-to-E/L/RF adapters and autofocus rings — opening up the Arcana to virtually every cinema and mirrorless system on the market.
Three lenses, one cinematic language
The 32mm covers wide establishing shots, the 45mm handles interviews and documentary work, and the 75mm delivers portrait compression and subject isolation. The three-lens set ships in a custom-fitted hard case designed for transport and on-set protection.

Who is the Arcana for?
Solo creators on gimbals, small crews shooting short films, film students stepping into anamorphic for the first time, rental houses looking for bookable glass — the Arcana is built for filmmakers who want cinematic character without the traditional barriers. It's also a natural upgrade path from spherical lenses: gentle learning curve, negligible weight penalty, immediate visual payoff.
