  2. ARRI launches ALEXA 35 Xtreme with high-speed capture and new ARRICORE codec

    ARRI has introduced the ALEXA 35 Xtreme, a major update to its ALEXA 35 line that raises frame rates, extends pre-recording, improves connectivity, and cuts power draw, while debuting ARRICORE, a next-generation RGB codec designed to preserve image quality at lower data rates. The Xtreme can be purchased new or configured as an upgrade for existing ALEXA 35 bodies. Built around a more powerful main processor with increased on-board memory, the ALEXA 35 Xtreme reaches up to 660 fps in Sensor Overdrive (11 stops), with up to 330 fps maintained at the camera’s full 17 stops of dynamic range. Pre-recording is now five times longer: up to 30 seconds at 24 fps in 4.6K Open Gate ProRes 4444, or 5 minutes at 24 fps in HD ProRes 422 HQ—the longest pre-roll currently available

    Sony’s New PXW-Z300 Offers AI-Driven Autofocus, Integrated Digital Signature Support, and Enhanced Network Features for Modern Media Workflows Sony has announced the introduction of its new flagship handheld camcorder, the PXW-Z300, part of the XDCAM® lineup. This advanced model integrates three 1/2-inch 4K Exmor R® CMOS sensors, the latest BIONZ XR™ image processor, and a dedicated AI-processing engine. Outfitted with a professional-grade zoom lens featuring independent control rings for focus, zoom, and iris, the PXW-Z300 targets a broad spectrum of uses, including journalism, documentary production, live broadcasting, corporate content, house of worship, and unscripted programming. The camcorder is expected to ship in fall 2025.

  5. Sony FX2 Full Frame Camera

    FX2: Full-frame Cinema and Photography in One The FX2 features a full-frame sensor with beautiful bokeh, a 33 MP Exmor R™ sensor, and up to 15+ stops of dynamic range via S-Log3, allowing you to capture many details in both light and dark areas. Thanks to Dual Base ISO (800 and 4000), the FX2 delivers optimal image quality in various lighting conditions. The ISO for video can be expanded to 102400, making it ideal for low light. The camera supports various recording formats, including 4:2:2 10-bit All-Intra and XAVC S-I DCI 4K at 24p, for flexible post-production. According to cinematographer Simone Sadocco, the dual base ISO provides “clean, noise-free images at both settings, with a smooth transition.” Long-lasting and Flexible Recording Thanks to internal cooling, the FX2 can record continuously in 4K 60p for up to 13 hours. Slow motion up to 2.5x (60 fps in 4K) and 5x (120 fps in Full HD) is possible.
