The New Era of Solo Cinematography
The Sony BURANO is a revolutionary addition to the CineAlta lineup, designed specifically for the needs of solo operators and small production teams. By combining the legendary image quality of the VENICE 2 with a chassis that is 33% lighter and more power-efficient, the BURANO offers unprecedented mobility. It is the most technically advanced compact full-frame cinema camera, delivering uncompromising 8.6K results in any environment.
World-First Stabilization and ND System
The BURANO breaks new ground as the world's first PL-mount compatible camera to feature a built-in image stabilization system. This innovation is paired with Sony's unique Electronic Variable ND filter (0.6 to 2.1), allowing for precise exposure adjustments without affecting depth of field. Whether using PL or E-mount lenses, the in-body image stabilization (IBIS) ensures smooth, professional footage during handheld or gimbal operation.
AI-Powered Precision Autofocus
For the first time in a CineAlta camera, Sony has integrated Fast Hybrid AF and Subject Recognition AF powered by an AI processing unit. This allows solo operators to maintain pin-sharp focus on moving subjects even when shooting with a shallow depth of field. The AI system excels in demanding scenarios, making it easier to capture the perfect shot without a dedicated focus puller.
Superior 8.6K Full-Frame Sensor
The heart of the BURANO is a 36x24mm full-frame sensor that delivers stunning 8.6K resolution with 16 stops of dynamic range. It features the same acclaimed color science as the VENICE 2, ensuring rich textures, natural skin tones, and beautiful bokeh. With Dual Base ISO (800/3200), the camera produces clean, low-noise images in lighting conditions ranging from bright daylight to dim interiors.
Efficient 16-bit Workflow
Despite its compact size, the BURANO supports internal recording of 16-bit X-OCN LT RAW and the new XAVC H format. Recording to dual CFexpress Type B cards, the camera streamlines the 8K workflow, making file transfers and post-production as efficient as a standard 4K project. It also includes four new in-camera looks (Warm, Cool, Vintage, Teal and Orange) for ready-to-use footage straight from the sensor.
