Next-Generation 8.6K Full-Frame Sensor

The Sony VENICE 2 is engineered for the most demanding cinematography, featuring a high-resolution 36x24mm full-frame sensor. Capable of capturing images up to 8640 x 5760, this 8K imager provides incredible oversampling for pristine 4K delivery. The sensor's interchangeable design allows users to switch between 8K and 6K blocks without firmware updates, ensuring maximum versatility on set.

Exceptional Latitude and Color Science

With a phenomenal 16 stops of latitude, the VENICE 2 excels in extreme lighting conditions. Whether shooting in direct sunlight or near-total darkness, the sensor maintains low noise and rich detail. It exceeds the BT.2020 color space, offering a palette wider than DCI-P3. This ensures faithful reproduction of skin tones and textures using Sony's established S-Log3 and S-Gamut3 workflows.

Dual Base ISO 800 and 3200

The 8K sensor features Dual Base ISO, providing a secondary high-sensitivity mode at ISO 3200. This allows for clean, high-dynamic-range capture in low-light scenarios, offering an exposure latitude from 6 stops over to 10 stops under 18 percent Middle Gray.

Internal 16-bit X-OCN Recording

Designed for a streamlined workflow, the VENICE 2 records 16-bit X-OCN and 4K ProRes 4444 and 422 HQ internally. By eliminating the need for external recorders, the camera remains compact and lightweight, making it ideal for gimbals, drones, and Steadicam rigs. The high-speed sensor readout also minimizes rolling shutter jello effects.

Integrated 8-Step Mechanical ND Filters

Building on the legacy of the original VENICE, this model includes a built-in 8-step mechanical ND filter mechanism. Ranging from 0.3 to 2.4, the servo-controlled system allows cinematographers to adjust exposure instantly without swapping external glass, saving critical time during production.
