Next-Generation Full-Frame Cinematography
The Sony VENICE CineAlta is a powerhouse digital cinema camera designed by cinematographers for cinematographers. Featuring a newly developed 36 x 24mm full-frame sensor, it delivers exceptional picture quality with a maximum resolution of 6048 x 4032, pushing the boundaries of large-format image capture. Switchable imager modes allow the VENICE to support an unprecedented number of cinematic aspect ratios, including full-width 36mm 6K and Super35 anamorphic 4K.
Unrivaled Exposure Latitude and Color Science
With 15+ stops of latitude and a color gamut that exceeds Rec. 2020, the VENICE provides incredible freedom in grading. Its Dual Base ISO (500 and 2500) ensures clean, high-dynamic-range images in any lighting condition, from bright sunlight to low-light environments. The high-speed readout sensor minimizes rolling shutter jello effects, maintaining image integrity during fast-motion shots.
Versatile Lens Mounts and Integrated ND Filters
Equipped with an industry-standard PL lens mount, the VENICE is compatible with all Super35 and full-frame PL glass. For added flexibility, the lever-lock E-mount allows for a vast ecosystem of lenses via third-party adapters. A world-first 8-step mechanical ND filter system is built directly into the chassis, offering a range from ND0.3 to ND2.4 for rapid exposure adjustments on set without external filters.
Advanced Recording and Workflow Efficiency
The VENICE supports high-performance formats including X-OCN (16-bit eXtended tonal range Original Camera Negative) and 16-bit RAW via the AXS-R7 recorder. Simultaneous recording capabilities allow for XAVC 4K and Apple ProRes proxy files to be captured at once, streamlining the transition from production to post-production. The modular design ensures the camera remains future-proof with an interchangeable sensor block.
